Polyimide foam is a type of polyimide material. It was first developed by NASA Langley Research Center and Unitika America in the 1970s and used on the space shuttle. It is now widely used in aircraft, ships, trains, automobiles and other fields. It is inherently flame retardant, heat-resistant, light in weight, and environmentally friendly and non-toxic. It can be used for a long time under extreme conditions such as ultra-high temperature, ultra-low temperature, high salt spray, strong noise, strong corrosion, and strong radiation.
1. Foam material with imide as the main chain, similar to general polyimide, with a use temperature of more than 300°C (PI foam)
2.Foam material with imide ring as a side group (PMI foam)
3.Nano foam material obtained by introducing thermally unstable fatty chain segments into polyimide and cracking them at high temperature.
Polyimide foam materials are advanced functional materials and have been increasingly used in key materials such as heat insulation, vibration reduction, noise reduction and insulation in high-tech fields such as aerospace, ocean shipping, national defense and microelectronics.
The excellent properties of polyimide foam plastics make it widely used in many fields. In the field of building materials, polyimide foam boards are widely used in building exterior insulation, roof insulation and other fields; in the field of packaging, polyimide foam plastics are widely used in the packaging of valuable goods such as electronic products and health products; in the aerospace, automotive and other industries, polyimide foam boards are used to manufacture lightweight components to improve product energy efficiency and safety.
