What are the differences in the performance of aluminum foil of different thicknesses in vacuum packaging?

In vacuum packaging, aluminum foils of different thicknesses will show obvious performance differences, which are mainly reflected in the following aspects:

1. Barrier performance

The barrier performance of aluminum foil is closely related to its thickness. Generally speaking, the thicker the aluminum foil, the better its barrier performance, which can more effectively block the penetration of substances such as oxygen, moisture, and light. This helps to extend the shelf life of the items in the package and maintain their freshness and taste. However, it should also be noted that too thick aluminum foil may increase the cost and weight of the package, and may also affect the softness and folding performance of the package.

2. Mechanical properties

The thickness of aluminum foil also affects its mechanical properties. Thicker aluminum foil usually has better tear resistance and puncture resistance, can better resist the effects of external mechanical forces, and protect the contents of the package from damage. However, too thick aluminum foil may reduce its softness and plasticity, making the package prone to damage during folding, bending, etc.

3. Heat sealing performance

Heat sealing is an important link in the vacuum packaging process. Aluminum foils of different thicknesses also have different effects on heat sealing performance. Generally speaking, for vacuum bag films of the same inner material, the higher the thickness, the higher the initial heat sealing temperature, and vice versa. Therefore, thicker aluminum foil may require a higher heat sealing temperature to achieve a good sealing effect. At the same time, the uniformity of the thickness of the aluminum foil will also affect the uniformity of the heat seal, and thus affect the sealing performance of the package.
